Team bonding activities come in a huge variety of types. They all have one main purpose though. All team bonding activities seek to help groups of people understand each other, communicate with each other, and ultimately learn to work together effectively. If these goals are all met, the activity has been successful.
Bonding groups should happen over activities that will not exclude any single member or members of the group as this does not help them fit in and will make other members feel as though something is unfair about the process. It is also helpful for team bonding activities to somehow mimic the work the team will have to complete later. This highlights relevant work habits in each member so that it is easier to translate the teamwork the group completes in the activity into teamwork the group can have during the regular work day, regardless of the type of work.
